It looks like it is the time of Northern Luzon to get into the big picture of Philippine tourism. This hope was raised by the recent news on big Chinese investments and soft loan concessions that President Duterte was able to secure for infrastructure development. The Central Luzon office of the Dept. of Tourism or DOT is looking at making the entire North Philippines as a primary regional and international tourism draw. DOT Central Luzon Director Ronnie Tiotuico said that they are looking at the forthcoming massive infrastructure developments as the key to the development of many remote areas in the region to world-class destinations because of improved accessibility. Director Tiotuico said that there is a need to link the international gateways of North Philippines which are Subic and...

hat do they eat? Cloud rats are herbivorous animals, eating fruits, leaves and maybe even flowers and seeds. The species that lives in the cold weather of the mountains of Benguet and Ifugao feed mainly on pine buds and young cones of trees. They can grow up to 2.5 kilograms -- the largest rats in the world! On the negative side, their large and meaty body is a good source of protein for the mountain people and they are heavily hunted. The Philippines may have the greatest concentration of unique biological diversity, relative to its size, of any country in the world," Heaney told reporters here on Friday. Samuel Peñafiel, Department of Environment and Natural Resources director in the Cordillera, said the dwarf cloud rat's rediscovery could boost government efforts to protect t...

Day 1 Northern Luzon Solo DIY Challenge Tourist spots of the day a. Tam-awan Village comes from a local word which mean "vantage point." The place is a reconstructed Cordilleran village giving premium to the tradition Ifugao home and its preserved cultural display. b. Arko ni Apo Art Gallery seats across Tam-awan village. From the name itself, Arko ni Apo means the Ark of the Lord in their native language. The owner of the gallery is Sir Ben Hur, as seen in the video. he is a bit feisty and can really intimidate you if you don't know anything about art. But its a good thing I was able to find his soft spot and managed to joke around. He is a sculptor, painter, former lecturer from Ateneo de Manila. What I really love about this place was the fact that he took time to share to me some of th...

Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is a densely populated bayside city on the island of Luzon, which mixes Spanish colonial architecture with modern skyscrapers. Intramuros, a walled city in colonial times, is the heart of Old Manila. Not knowing very much about the Philippines before I visited, I was pleasantly surprised by Manila and Subic and how they both reminded me of America. The highlight of the trip was getting a chance to visit a Vietnamese boat people refugee camp near Baataan. I met some friendly Pinoys too. The food was great. The transportation readily available. And the landscape extremely beautiful. There are plenty to see and do as well. -------------------------------------------------- About Me: I'm Kyle Le and I live, travel, and eat in Vietnam and many Asian countries.
